Vladimir Firrer was born in 1953. In 1979 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography. Since then Vladimir worked as a costume designer and art director in various major Russian theaters. Since 1999 Vladimir has been a professor and head of the Department of Stage Design in the Academy of Theatre Arts. He also serves as a Chairman of the Theater Committee of the St. Petersburg Association of Artists.
Firrer decorated more than 200 shows in theatres all over Russia, including Mariinsky Theater, State Theater of a Comedy, and Great Drama Theater in St. Petersburg. Vladimir designed costumes for the Moscow’s 850th Anniversary Gala Show that took place on the Red Square in 1997. He was also a Water Show designer for the 300th Anniversary of St. Petersburg.
Since 1979 Vladimir participated in exhibitions of Artists and Theatrical Associations and soon started personal exhibitions in Russia, Europe and the US. Firrer’s works are in museums and private collections of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Czech Republic and USA. Vladimir Firrer was nominated and awarded multiple times with prestigious theatrical awards in Russia. In 1996 Vladimir was named a Distinguished Artist of Russia.
